Course Overview

This course provides hands-on training using a forklift simulator to familiarize operators with safe forklift operations in a controlled environment. It focuses on basic operational skills, handling techniques, and safety protocols to enhance forklift handling proficiency.

Course Content

  • The course provides hands-on training with a forklift simulator.
  • Participants will start with Control Familiarization to understand the controls.
  • Next, you will practice Driving Forward and Backward both Without a Load and With a Load.
  • You’ll also learn to handle a Figure of “8” maneuver and manage Ramps with and without a load.
  • Additionally, you will practice Loading and Unloading Racks, Moving Pallets Between Containers and Staging Areas, and Loading and Unloading Trucks.
  • The focus is on learning to operate the forklift safely and effectively in various situations.

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

    This course is designed for new forklift operators, warehouse staff, and workers in logistics who want to gain hands-on experience with forklift operations before enrolling in a Operate Forklift course. No prior forklift experience is required.

Requirements to be a trainer and assessor for this course

  • Domain qualification: The trainer/assessor must be a domain subject matter expert, possess a WSQ-Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health (WSH Professional Level B)
  • Domain work experience: The trainer/assessor must possess a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in subject matter.
  • WSQ trainer/assessor pedagogic requirement: The trainer/assessor must have attained a WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA) or Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) or Diploma in Adult Continuing Education (DACE) or Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP).
  • WSQ trainer/assessor experience: The trainer/assessor should preferably possess a minimum of one year of training experience.
  • All adult educators are required to attain 10 hours (minimum) annually by attending Continuing Professional and Development (CPD) courses conducted by appointed training providers.
  • The trainer for the course is not permitted to be the assessor for the same course learners during the assessment.
